Kirkpatrick has been certified ISO 9001:2000 since 2004.
A long-lasting tradition in the field of Intellectual Property from 1852, an experience at the service of clients and a reputation which is not longer to be proved. Then why choose to be ISO 9001 certified for a firm which no longer has anything to prove in a field generally not interested in this kind of approach ?
At Kirkpatrick we obviously did not await ISO 9001 to make quality our major concern. Through this certification, we wanted to streamline and further improve our management system by having it appraised by independent experts who recognized its efficiency.
We believe that a firm which promotes innovation and creativity should, in turn, be itself innovative, creative and visionary.
Innovative: In 2004, date of our first certification, we were the first and only IP firm in Belgium to be certified ISO 9001.
Creative from a double point of view: On the one hand to be able to meet all points of the ISO norm which, in its original 94 version, was rather restrictive and not much adapted to our field of activities and, on the other hand, to have all our collaborators to switch from an oral to a codified tradition, with precise guidelines.
Visionary: If ISO certification is more common in the Anglo-Saxon world of IP, in Continental Europe it is almost non-existent. In addition, with more than one hundred and fifty years of high quality services, Kirkpatrick had, a priori, no strategic need to embark on such an adventure. Yet it is this very moment that its General Manager decided chose to launch the ISO process. At Kirkpatrick we do not rest on our assets. We are turned to the future.

The certification covers the whole range of our activities: patents, supplementary certificates, trademarks, designs, copyrights, domain names, licenses, and other IP-related contracts, IP audits, due diligences and patent landscaping. The selection and the evaluation of our local agents and foreign associates are assessed on the basis of precise procedure in accordance with the ISO 2001 requirements. Eventually, our activities continue to be submitted to regular external audits.
With this certification, we commit ourselves to continuous improvements.
